Thanks especially to john2000doe and Hurricanezome for keeping us updated! Miss Venezuela used to be one of the most glamorous & most anticipated national pageants on the calendar, but I feel under-whelmed with this batch. Perhaps there has been an over-shifting of priorities to target English-speaking & communication skills ?? Plus the exodus of those who are able to leave the country, due to years & years of crisis . . . .
Would like to voice my current impressions, primarily based on the 'VIDEO TEASERS & 2ND SET OF PHOTOS' on this Page 16, that john2000doe has shared with us:
ARAGUA - face value, strong presence, appears to be well-prepared to compete. At 1.7m height, Osmel would not have allowed her to make the Top 24, so I am glad that the new committee looks beyond towering height. Afterall, Demi-Leigh & Pia were able to win the Miss Universe title, and they are not that tall!
MIRANDA: beautiful face, but holding a lot of tension in her jaw in the 2nd set of official photos. I think she has really slimmed down since making the Top 24, that has brought out her facial bone structure so much better. She is not naturally thin, so I hope she is also focused on staying healthy & getting sufficient nutrition!
DISTRITO CAPITAL: the current look is rather aging on her - go easy on the platinum, and soften the make-up!
TRUJILLO: the potential is there - on the photos on Page 15, she looks good both 'natural' & when glammed up. However, in the 2nd set of official photos (Page 16), she is too smiley and one-note. Encourage her team to bring our her angelic & elegant side.
APURE: the 3 pics of her from the 2nd set of official photos are all with her head tilted upwards. Let's work on posing, & being at ease infront of the camera.
CARABOBO: did not make an impression on me. In contrast, Lisandra i.e. with the PORTUGUESA sash, who is also from Carabobo, is a much stronger competitor, and has experience to boot. Glad her team has done away with the disastrous 'too blonde & strong make-up' look they tried on her. Let's keep her look youthful & fresh.
FALCON: reminds me of a Miss Honduras, on the 2nd set of official pics. But she is so much taller than the typical Central American reps. Looked much better during the Portadas interview i.e. styling, hair & make-up could make a big difference.
REGION GUAYANA: not feeling her. Think she looks better with a more natural look e.g. from the un-polished bikini shots used by the MVO for the initial unveiling of the (then) Top 26.
MERIDA: Is it the hair-colour that is not quite right?? Let's experiment with darker mahogany & brown tones, that I think could impact on how her face projects.
