Good Years of MUO are with IMG

I am reading how so many people are not satisfied with how IMG has been running MUO but personally, I think they are doing a good job in making the brand more relevant to the market

1. IMG focuses its budget on the Coronation Night . The show feels more competitive and the quality of the pacing is better. It is important to highlight how the show's telecast over the years continue to improve. Admittedly, prepageant activates are not as important nowadays compared to previous years.

2. IMG winners have a clearer representation. They are no longer scandalous and tabloid. MUO and its winners stand for advocacies and having voices and consequently, this is the reason why we see less pornstar looking candidates joining the contest

3. IMG has efforts of localising the brand We see how the brand, Miss Universe, is more present in each country and this is done be looking for new local organizers

4. IMG has made the contest more inclusive and diverse If you see global trends on defining the standard of beauty, it has become less molded and fabricated. During the Trump era, they were looking for the Victoria's Secret model type but this is not reflection anymore of what it means to be beautiful. MUO embraced all of these changes and made it more commercial for the audience

Although, there are still improvements to be made like improving on aesthetic and styling, I think they are on the right path. They are in their first 5 years of transition but I think these changes are important for it to withstand the test of time

The brand has certainly became different with IMG. I love the calm reigns of their winners.

I agree. Its actually nice to see them travel more or book more international campaigns. I think this was the advantage of the trump era.
People might hate the continental system but it actually attracts more countries to make an effort.

Some countries could not accept these changes because most of the girls they sent are stucked with the Trump era mold. If you noticed Miss Universe and IMG is trying to reach out to local audience hence putting more emphasis on every girls' personal Advocacy because they want to attcract interests since it is PC cultureand movements esp. in US.

PERSONNALY,
I LIKE IMG,ALTHOUGH IN MISS USA AND MISS UNIVERSE WE SEE GODDESSES CLAPPING AND NOT MAKING IN THE SEMIS,BUT WE SEE BEAUTIFUL FINALISTS WITH ESSENCE AND BRAIN,BECAUSE BEFORE IMG WHEN I GO BACK TO DONALD TRUMP DAYS(EXTREME BEAUTY YEARS) I THINK THESE YEARS WERE LITTLE BIT SUPERFICIAL,(THE ONLY TEST OF BRAIN IS THE FINAL QUESTION)
BEAUTY IS NOT DEFINITE EACH PERSON CAN SEE IT IN AN ANGLE LIKE THE CURRENT MISS USA SOME PEOPLE LIKE HER BEAUTY SOME PEOPLE THINKS SHE IS NOT PRETTY BUT NOBODY CAN QUESTION THAT IS BRIGHT,CLEVER ,WITTY AND HAVE ESSENCE AND INTELLECT.
IN IMG WITH MISS USA I THINK THE WINNERS SHOULD BE MORE BEAUTIFUL .
CONCERNING MISS UNIVERSE THE WINNERS ARE SUPER AMAZING AND ARE FULL PACKAGE AND ALL THE RIGHT WINNERS 100 PERCENT (PIA,IRIS,DEMI ,CAT) ALL OF THEM ARE GREAT MIX OF STUNNING BEAUTY,BRAIN,ESSENCE AND LOVELY PERSONNALITY,I LOVE CATRIONA SO MUCH

I agree. There is a problem though with how MUO is currently partnering with local organizations because they only look for companies that can sustain financially

I LIKE THE IMG ERA A LOT. PAGEANT IS ALL ABOUT THE FINALS NIGHT-- THE IMG ERA HAS FANTASTIC , WORLD-CLASS FINALE. IT LOOKS PRESTIGIOUS AND EXPENSIVE UNLIKE SOME EARTHLY PRODUCTIONS THAT LOOKS LIKE A THIRD WORLD ABS-CBN LEVEL PRODUCTION, FROM THE BASIC LOWER THIRDS FONT TO THE VIDEO LOOK OF THE COVEREAGE, WHEN WILL USE EXPENSIVE CAMERAS LIKE RED TO FILM THE INTRO AND THE FEATURETTES?

This is true and year in and out, the coronation night is innovative and entertaining.
No need to bash Miss Earth because their system is different

Your hobbies/interests include "Hating Miss Earth"... and yet you keep mentioning it.

This vak-lung kah-null is either hypocrite or undeniably Miss Earth fan!

IMG is doing horribly in the Latin market due to been consider boring and doll. Latin people love the Drama and glamour Trump use to give us. We fell like the level of beauty in miss universe is going down due to there feminist SJW bullshit they are pushing. I personally think the days of IMG are numbered specially after this year debacle. Trump might buy the pageant back

I hope is true, I wanna see beautiful winners and girls. Stop the BS about diverse and inclusiveness. I wanna see beautiful, statuesque girls!

Well, I'm from Brazil, so I'm "latino" and I have no complaints about IMG winners, but let's face the truth: IMG is not that good!

Worst show ever: 2016. (It was not the host country fault, The Philipinnes is a good host with the craziest beauty pageant fans) But who had the terrible idea of the SS and EG segments with three girls at the same time?
2015 show was ok, nothing special (that slow song in the SS was so boring)...
2017 the girls had very little time to showcase themselves on the runway.
2018, okay, I like that big runway, BUT...

THEY DON'T SHOW THE HOST COUNTRY AT ALL!
How do they want an international host country if they have no monetary return?
That's why no one wants to host Miss Universe anymore!
Even the stages are so generic now!

Trump Era winners used to travel WAY MORE than IMG winners!
Miss Universe Pre Activities used to last a whole month!

I don't like the continental top 20, most underserved girls make the cut just to fill the spot (at least it's a top 20 now, not a top 16 or TOP 13 #:-S ).

I miss the old TV Hosts, Steve Harvey always trying to be funny is boring AF!
I miss the stages decorated according to the host country!
I miss the musical attractions from the host country, like RBD (Mexico 2007) and Emin (Russia 2013) or that group in 2014 (errr... 2015) singing "Mi cuerpo pide fiesta, mi cuerpo pide salsa, mi cuerpo pide mas mas mas mas mas" ♪♫. Oh, I miss someone like Lady Gaga in 2008 too! :%))

I miss the old openings (the girls in their National Costume).

Trump Era's overall production was better!

At least in my case, I don't care if an Asian girl wins the title if she deserves the title, (To be honest, I was fed up with Venezuela winning all the time) and I like the new speech segment, but I hate the fact that Harvey's mini interview has to be done in English! In the Trump Era we had some non-English speaking winners, so what's the point here? [-X

That's it! :-D

Just FYI, under Trump, transwomen were officially admitted to compete. I don't know how long you have been following Miss Universe, but I have been following it for at least 20 years, mostly when the pageant was under Trump. The organization has crowned beauties of all races and ethnicities. Just because Trump prefers Victoria's Secret type beauties, that doesn't mean one such type would always win. Trump may have expressed his preference for a type, but he never judged the pageant. Also, I am disappointed with IMG's relationship with Catriona Gray. For a modeling agency, they should be promoting Cat heavily and signing her up in major fashion shows around the world, or even putting her on beauty/fashion magazine covers. And since she is musically gifted, I don't see her performing in any of the variety/musical/award shows that she has attended.

Do people keep forgetting that under the Trump era we had the first and only back-to-black in 1998 and 1999?

I am sorry but IMG is ruining the Miss Universe franchise and this year has been the worst year for them. They've had some beautiful winners, but they do not know what to do with them during their reign. Hopefully they sell the franchise to someone who truly knows what they are doing and can bring it back to its former glory.

But pageant production and platform was nothing like the Trump era

IMG era gurls always sayin "I'm a powerful woman"
Like, Who said she isn't powerful woman?

Still, there are Fierceness but nothing like Trump era's fierceness
Facially less pretty girl keep winning Miss USA

And scandalous gurls are still competing and winning
Sarah Rose Summers and Karlie Hay, they are a perfect example.

THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT IMG IS THE DIVERSITY. IMG DESTROYED EVERYTHING: THE MISS UNIVERSE WE ALL LOVED.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MISS UNIVERSE DURING THE TRUMP YEARS HAD LITTLE TO DO WITH TRUMP APART FROM HIS EMPTY BRAGGING AND TRYING TO CAPITALIZE ON PUBLICITY STUNTS. THE DECLINE ACTUALLY STARTED WITH HIM. CBS AND LATER NBC WAS WHAT KEPT THINGS LOOKING GOOD.

THE ORG STILL HAS THE SAME PRESIDENT IN PAULA SHUGART SO WHY ISNT SHE HOLDING THINGS TOGETHER? MAYBE SHE IS WHO NEEDS TO GO?

2019 could be the worst edition now. The 2009 nightmare can totally rest. Bahamas was a great host tho. Fadil Berisha shoots were refreshing and the activities looks fun
Production was also great. Its just the stage and venue that made 2009 a disaster

IMG is actually the worst era of Miss Universe. After Pia, all the girls faded. Iris, Demi and Catriona were like prisoners, they barely made any travels, and they didn't get exposed that much.

It was more of a popularity contest of which girls to place so that there is always noise. After 2015, they also kept picking the worst Miss USA delegates!

With IMG, we got fat girls in swimsuits (Canada in 2016 was so fugly juggling all that cellulite) and that Spanish tranny in 2018 was a big mess.

The fact that no one wants to sponsor Miss Universe these days shows how the dark ages are for the brand.

The only good thing MUO under IMG did was bringing back the Mikimoto crown, which is also short-lived now...

I would like to know what scandal MUO title holders have been apart of during their reign? I think it was only the 2006 girl and Rima who made the tabloids. But in Rima's case it was something she did years before she became Miss USA. Paulina and Nia made the tabloids but it was for defending their community. Lelia also made the tabloids but it was because Osmel attacked her. And Iris made the tabloids for allegedly being in a relationship with the previous Miss France. And Pia was rumored to be in a relationship with the president. So try again! IMG era is the worse, ratings are down, and so are the sponsors.
