A Filipino Scandal.....Part Two - Philippines and Race?

Postby Ian Sebastin » Mon Apr 16, 2018 8:00 am

If you missed the first episode, please search for it in the forum. The article contains juicy insight into the Philippines and their struggles to find their place on the Universe stage, especially as Thailand becomes the new jewel of Asia.

The Philippines flopped at the most recent Miss Universe pageant and has been overshadowed by Thailand the last two years. However, this year the struggling nation has crowned Catriona Gray, a disputed pageant veteran. Many of you might remember her top five placement at Miss World in 2016. However, her placement has been heavily contested due to allegations that she copied off former Miss World winner, Megan Young (born in the USA). Regardless of what Catriona did or did not do, she does have the international experience. Can she make the Philippines a contender on the big stage once again? Or will they continue to flop?

Furthermore, people might realize Catriona's Caucasian features. Also, Catriona was born in Australia. Many people are beginning to question why the Philippines cannot crown a natural Filipino girl? Why are all the girls part white? Questions are being asked around the internet on various boards. For example, if you visit the United States of Beauty Bubble Board you will come across posts questioning the validity of Miss Philippine winners. Posters are accusing the nation of depending on girls that are part white to snatch the crown because full-blooded Filipino girls are not capable of winning the crown at an international level. One forummer on this website who wished to remain anonymous due to retaliation from the larger Filipino presence on Missosology, said, "It's obvious the Philippines needs a girl that is part white to win. Look at their past winners. Look at their current winner. White blood is the best blood."

So we are left wondering....what is going on with the Philippines? Why is the country shutting out full-blooded Filipino women for girls that are mixed year after year? Everyone remembers when Phia supposedly one the crown in 2015 against Colombia but many people think she was, in fact, the first runner-up.

Can the Philippines get it together? And finally, will Catriona be original or will she be a copycat.

Using your logic ...
USA should send a Native American to Miss Universe .
Australia should send an aboriginal woman to Miss Universe
Puerto Rico should send a native cannibal woman to Miss Universe

I feel like I might need to educate you a little bit. One, Deshauna is not an African-American. She is black. If she was born in Africa and then moved to America, that would make her an African-American. Two, Deshauna is not mixed. She is a black woman. (The article talked about the Philippines crowning mixed women. If Deshauna was part white, then your point might have some credibility.) Three, the term "Native American" refers to "indigenous people" that were in America before it became America. Technically, if you look at any country that became a country..there were native people already there...so you're not really going anywhere with that? Good try though. :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p :=p

What scandalous about mixed Filipinos joining beauty pageants in their home turf? The only scandal I can see here is your reference to "race" to qualify your point.

There's a saying that goes: a little learning is a dangerous thing. Your lecture us on something you barely know nothing about. I can't even call your "expose" learning. Why draw attention to yourself when at the onset everyone knows your hidden agenda already? Trying on an onerous topic that you have scant knowledge about betrays your ignorance. Try something else where your posturing is better appreciated. Do not expose your idiocy a bit more and you will be crucified! Finding an alibi cannot exonerate your true intention. That is almost assured!

Re: A Filipino Scandal.....Part Two - Philippines and Race?

Postby IWU » Mon Apr 16, 2018 10:16 am

Well the question here is, why Philippines is not crowning (in recent year anyway) pure blooded Filipina?

This is just a dumb question... Bb Pilipinas is very strict on residency requirements. Bb Pilipinas is only open for Filipina who meet the criteria to be a binibini. All the official candidates has been judged both equally and unequivocally.

So, to answer the TS question in straihht forward manner: Whether the candidate is pure or mixed filipino they have equal chance of winning... it just happened that lately the mixed girls shine the brightest and that doesn't mean they are being favoured by Bb Pilipinas Org.

Another stupid, jealous thread masquerading as inquisitive kuno! Why bother yourself with matters that do not concern you? You are asking why contestants with mixed blood race always were being sent to Miss Universe and other international pageants -- do your research --- I guess the other forumers have already enumerated!

Ian Sebastin wrote:If you missed the first episode, please search for it in the forum.

It's none of your business futah! Whatever placements a Filipino candidates get, the whole nation accepts it, whether pure or half. In this nation, I can guarantee you that all are equal in the contest simply because they love crowning women who are passionate enough in bringing honors for the country - whether pure or a halfie. See you in Miss Universe. Oh, by the way, train well your fave. Now go back to your futatching. Bye :-j :-j :-j
