A glimpse into the life of a Zamboangueña in the 1700s
A Mascota is the traditional wear of the Zamboangueñas popularly worn in the 1700s. A mascota is made up of SIX elements: ang corpiño (silk or cotton slip), candongga (panuelo), renggue (upper garment), sobre falda (tapis), cola (the skirt), and enaguas (inner lining of the skirt). Without just one of these elements, it is not a mascota. The designer Erich Miñoza derived his inspiration from a traditional Chavacano song "Cucurukuk Cucudia"

The Philippines has just been hit by the strongest storm in the world so far this year, known as Typhoon Goni (local name Rolly) #RollyPH. On top of that, another tropical storm, Siony, is closely tailing Typhoon Goni.The @philredcross has alerted all chapters, 143 volunteers, and deployed a Disaster Management Team from the National Headquarters for rescue and relief operations to Bicol, my hometown, and other affected areas.

In order to continue serving the most vulnerable and affected communities, I am calling all kind-hearted donors and humanitarian partners to help support the Red Cross in their response operations. Today, I visited three @smiletrain.la patients in Colombia. Austin, pictured here is just a few days away from his 1st birthday and is due to undergo his first cleft surgery in December 2020. His family was referred to @smiletrain's free service via their OBGYN. This knowledge that free cleft care is available is so valuable and gives so much hope and relief to families. So if you're reading this and know a child with cleft, please refer them to Smile Train. (Si conoces a un niño con Fisura Labio Palatina por favor contacta a http://www.smiletrainla.org, @smiletrain.la) Although the pandemic has slowed down some services, @smiletrain.la local partners in Colombia continued to provide telehealth services during the pandemic and now are resuming free cleft services and care.
