A report published today on RCN Radio’s website (RCN is one of the biggest TV stations in Colombia, which airs the Miss Colombia Universe competition) written by Alex Aldana, talks about the inminent cancellation of the Miss Universe 2012 competition. Months ago, national organizers were informed that the competition was being moved to December. But according to the article, it is not a certainty anymore.

Rumors about the possible cancellation of the beauty pageant with the most beautiful women have been taking strength during these past days. Alfredo Barraza, one of the country’s most renowned designers, said that the beauty competition is “stalled”.
He added that the celebration of Miss Universe is a “maybe”, since the lack of a host city, and a date in a high season would raise considerably the costs of the event, which is why the Trump organization could be considering in holding the pageant next year.
“Countries that had already chosen their beauty queens sent them to the Miss World competition instead, due to the lack of confirmation on the Miss Universe pageant’s date. I have been confirmed that the event, due to the planned date, could raise the costs of production. And if it takes place indeed in December, the winner would only reign for five months, because there are already plans of holding the 2013 edition in May”, said Barraza.
He also mentions that possible host cities do not have the infrastructure to welcome the pageant in December. “Las Vegas, for example, is completely full. Other cities in consideration wouldn’t have the capacity to host so many people who travel to this pageant”.
On the other hand, Raimundo Angulo, president of the Concurso Nacional de Belleza (Srta. Colombia, whose winner competes in Miss Universe) said that he hopes he gets an answer from the Miss Universe Organization in less than ten days, confirming a date and a venue. But he also said that he is no longer sure that the contest will take place in December, as scheduled.
“During the next days they should be confirming the date and the host country. I don’t want to speculate about this situation. I wish the pageant would take place because it’s important to us. Our organization is eagerly waiting for this information. Meanwhile, Daniela Alvarez (reigning Miss Colombia) continues her preparation for the pageant as planned”.
If the Miss Universe competition takes place, Daniela Alvarez will represent Colombia, although a new Senorita Colombia will be chosen this November in Cartagena.

i don't see the connection girl... MU is already ignoring so many goddesses even before Henry, Papageorgiou & Vértiz.. but many people are "STILL" looking forward to MU pageant every next season (even your ND Andrea Fonseka), and still giving excitement to many pageant fanatics whether u like it or not. people won't go gaga on pageant sites during MU season like a fiesta if they're not interested to MU... and this is why most national directors who handles more than one pageant from their country are more focused & looking forward to Miss Universe than MW, MI, ME..... like Osmel...

ok, i got ur point girl first of all i don't hate black people. my country is multi racial, we also have black people in my country so i don't mean to offend blacks here if that's the issue. i'm just stating the truth that many people (non-brazilian audience) are not happy of Leila's winning.. because of the last two standing many prefer Olesya to win than Leila.. u can see that from national director's reaction after the pageant, from leila's different threads in misso... u can always see different forumers from around the world talking like if she's not wearing her sash & crown they won't notice that she is a Miss Universe when standing beside Olesya, Alyssa, Luo zilin..etc. blah blah.. why are they going to say that if they are convinced?

Because Putri Indonesia Org and MU Org had been contract that the winner MU 2012 will attended Putri Indonesia 2012 on Early Februari 2013. So relax and be positif that MU will Show on your TV.
OMG - Miss World is kicking the shit out of Miss Universe when it comes to host countries. miss World has countries lined up until 2015.
and to make things worse - Miss Earth is also kicking the shit out of Miss universe with host countries lined up until 2014 (if Vietnam honors their contract to host in even-numbered years)

Deborah Henry was a goddess sure, but she was recycled that is why she clapped, same with Canada candidate Sahar she is stunning but she won't place because she is recylced also. These girls should know that they can't leave MU as last option they have to start in there first. I do not know about you but for me MU is very convincing I was in awe with Leila the minute I saw her picture, Deborah Henry also, but actually it was Olessia who stole my heart. What I find a little distracting was the fact that Venezuela won twice in consecutive years I mean was there any other country in there? she was pretty but not MU material. That was the time I lost a little faith in MU. But I hope it does not get cancelled. I love dresses, makeup, hair, beauty, geez.

Accept the fact that the pageant is somehow planned and rigged. One of Miss USA contestants already revealed it. Yes some appear to be deserving bcoz of the missosology.org but the rest....
