I don't think so. Let's leave the "spectacles" to MW. MU has veered away from tradition and its constitution quite a bit as it is. The production and stage design of the MU telecasts from the mid-70's until Trump took over were the best and the most appropriate.

The stage should "showcase" the girls like diamonds instead of the girls showcasing a 'spectacular' stage by being its props. In other words, the focus should be on the girls not on the stage design.

I tend to agree with your statement.The girls should be the main stars of the show,not the stage.Those girls trained so hard for months in order to be noticed by fans and judges and it would be unfair if after all the hard work they have invested in the pageant,at the end of the day,spectators and press would only talk about how spectacular the stage was.lol

I like the fact that Miss Universe always makes an effort to show elements of the host country's attractions or culture in their stage designs. They have doing this since the mid-1970s.

Miss World on the other hand, have had really simple and boring stage designs since the late 1990s. This year's stage don't look Chinese at all!

Not to mention that Miss World has also gotten rid of the colorful national costumes segment since 1998.

NBC production team has its ways to work around with what they have. Even the MU 2009 stage is still an eye-candy compared to the big Miss World stages.

I know MU can even surpass that. Trump is a known billionaire, Morley is nowhere near him. But I think Morley has much passion in pageantry than Trump. I hope Trump will be alarmed, MU is still, for me, the most celebrated and popular pageant.
