República Dominicana dice "No" a Miss Universo

El gobierno de la República Dominicana da negativa a certamen Miss Universo

SANTO DOMINGO, 19 de Junio -- Aunque reportes publicados en días pasados indicaban que el país sería sede del máximo concurso de belleza del planeta, fuentes ligadas al Ministerio de Turismo indican que no se logró llegar a un acuerdo con los organizadores del mismo.

Para su realización, el gobierno precisaba un desembolso de 16 millones de dólares (623 millones de pesos), un gasto que por el momento, es imposible afrontar.

De acuerdo a Francisco García, Ministro de Turismo de la República Dominicana, algunas personas se precipitaron en anunciar un acuerdo que aún no estaba firmado.

Esta decisión se da en un entorno similar a lo que aconteció en Bolivia en 2010, cuando la Ministra de Cultura Zulma Yugar decidió retirar la oferta para alojar el concurso de belleza debido a los altos costos de producción.

Se supo extraoficialmente que el certamen podría, finalmente, realizarse en las Bahamas en diciembre.

Dominican Republic says "No" to Miss Universe, the Government of the Dominican Republic da refusal to Pageant Miss Universe EFE SANTO DOMINGO, June 19 - although reports published in recent days indicated that the country would be the maximum beauty of the planet contest headquarters, sources linked to the Ministry of tourism indicate that he was failed to reach agreement with the organizers of the same.

For its realization, the Government required an outlay of 16 million dollars (623 million pesos), an expense that at the moment, it is impossible to deal with.

Agree to Francisco García, Minister of tourism of the Dominican Republic, some people rushed to announce an agreement which was not yet signed.

This decision is given in an environment similar to what happened in Bolivia in 2010, when the Minister of culture Zulma Yugar decided to withdraw the offer to host the contest of beauty because of the high costs of production.

Unofficially, it was learned that the pageant could, eventually, be held in the Bahamas in December.

I just hope this is true I actually don't want Miss Universe to be held in the Dominican Rep. not because I'm discriminating but because I saw that it actually might be held in Florida and since I'm moving there it would be the 1st time going to it. But I find Dom. Rep. beautiful so wtv. I hope they have another country because this is getting on my last nerves.

Las Vegas was such a boring host in 2010, the stage was so dull and there was no space for the runway. Hopefully it won't end up there again.

Exactly! Magaly can say tomorrow that the government said yes, and I won't believe her until the MU org says something. The last person to believe is Magaly. lol.

I don't even wanted it to be in Dominca. If MU is so picky and greedy for money, why don't they host it in their own country, Florida could be a good host. No to Bahamas, no repitition of host country within a decade please. I hope Botswana can host MU sooner.
