A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME THAT CAROLYN YAPP TOLD HIM SHE HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS NATIONAL DIRECTOR FOR THE 2012 MISS JAMAICA UNIVERSE PAGEANT .

SHE TOLD HIM THAT "SHE IS TURNING THINGS AROUND, OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW"

Hi newbie. From what I know, Marlon Honegan is the national director. I also heard rumour that he was fired recently. Can you say how certain you are that there is someone new in the admin? I also need confirmation on the January 21 search in Mandeville. Where do you all get the updates???

Luckily the "NEW" Organisers are scouting the correct way by scouting in the counties of Jamaica. If you guys have any suggestions of girls you would love to see take up the mantle, feel free to post it in this thread.!! We will pass it on the appropriate channel.

For this, the inaugural year under the new franchise holder they should choose a veteran beauty queen or model to represent Jamaica. On four of the five occasions that Jamaica placed at Miss Universe it was by an experienced model (Sandra Foster, Kimberly Mais) or an accomplished beauty queen (Christine Straw, Yendi Phillipps).

(There is no time to be loosing weight and fixing flaws or experimenting with unconventional specimens.)

Chantel Davis, Chavoy Gordon, Joelle Lodenquai, Kimanee Wilson, Chantal Zaky, Amanda McCreath among others should be targeted...that would be an all-star line up.

It may be a case were the organization does not want to expose the contestants in an unpolished state like what Invyte did; or it may be that they never got a good turn out.

Why didn't they have the Middlesex auditions in Ocho Rios? Mandeville is not a hub for these kind of events.

haha...if theyre serious about finding the next Miss Universe, theyre looking in the wrong places. I doubt youll find any Miss Universe living in these places theyre looking. Got to keep it real too . I hear theres going to be some TV reality show, and the winner will be crowned in 2 months after the search?? Wow. Seeems like the emphasis is all going to be on TV again, like INVYTE, hence the word 'casting' is used. They should be looking for the next Miss Universe!! And why waste precious time prepping all the girls over 2 months, most of whom will NOT stand any chance. Wouldnt that time be better spent working with the one girl, the winner- assuming she has some potential??

True= Ocho Rios wouldve been better, thats what happen when you simply try to copy Spartans format, rather than think a bit outside the box & try to make radical changes. No one expect to see the full line up, since this is just a casting, but at least issue a release..even a group pic. Or maybe the real casting will be in Kingston & St Andrew...

I hope ANASTASSIA MITCHELL will crown Miss Jamaica Universe 2012. take a look of her, she looks like Yendi Philips. She is the only contestants that has beautiful face and great body. she will go further than top 5. Jamaica will place again in MU 12.

Its not like Miss World that mostly look at the real personality of the contestants, Miss Universe is all about the superficial stuff and putting on a show.

I have no problem with the reality show its a good way of milking the cash cow and building up interest in the finals.

Uhm OK, but I still disagree with reality TV, it takes a lot of time to film, edit, produce. Why do you think INVYTE finals was several hours late?? LOL..they were too busy focusing on producing a week by week reality show!!! Then lost all concept of time, esp when the show lighting people pulled out at last minute due to lack of payment. Reality is fine- if you have a separate production team focusing on that. Can u imagine Miss Universe showing a week by week series?? LOL, or even MW?? They would never complete the work for the grand finale or remember the criteria for chosing the right girl..which is what matters at end of the day!! If anything they should record clips & make it into one show the week before, or build it into the grand finale show. But to hell with reality stuff..& if its thats their purpose this year, to cast for reality, trust me, we will have another SHakira MArtin ..or Danielle Croskill crowned.

The Jamaican pageant organisers are completely oblivious to what is going on in other countries, that is why they leave everything up to chance and then fill themselves up with false hope.

They should take a page out of Venezuela's book. They play an 'unfair' game. Girls like Dayana Mendoza and Ivian Sarcos did not just get up and say "I gonna enter a pageant today." They were modelling, acting and doing minor pageants before being scouted by Osmel Sausa. Then there is the long training, plastic surgeries etc. The eventual winners are even short listed and approved by franchise holder before the pageant is held. They do it with the bigger picture in mind...not a senseless spur of the moment decision.


Jamaica needs to do this big.
