Good for him. He won't make it in the Philippines showbiz the way he is doing it in Indonesia just by doing frequent auditions. Philippines showbiz is close (no opportunity) to locals with pure talents, especially those without families, showbiz friends, and gay benefactors who are already in the industry and without foreign blood or mestizo. Sad reality.

They are a minority. More than 50% of them have foreigner's blood. You know that. Lots of locals tried but lots of times, they failed of ignored. The fans have been preconditioned by media that mixed ones are better looking. It means that you have easier and better chances to be considered and known if you are mestizo or mestiza and make more money. Locals are given low priorities or roles and be objects of ridiculousness to become popular, mostly pagtawawanan muna o gagawing gago o dadaan muna ng karayom bago sisikat. Hanggang extra lamang o supporting role lang ang ibibigay.

[size=150]Correction: Lots of people have tried, both pure and mixed Filipinos, but they failed and were ignored. Even mestizos and mestizas fail in Philippine showbiz. It really isn't the race but the abundance of talent here. So many talented Pinoys for such a small industry....
pacifico falafoxy wrote:Why can't they penetrate in the Philippine industry?
Politics is the main reason. It's who you know in the Philippine showbiz. Besides, lots of talented ones are ignored because they are not in the realm of Pinoy definition of good looking as they are not mixed and they don't know anyone. Lots of the ones groomed because they are those related, or relatives of, to current and former popular actors and actresses popular way back decades ago. You tell me if that's not true.
Leo was right to try use his talents in some other countries. Pinoys who have the talent and have no connections in Philippine showbiz can do the same thing. It seems like Indonesia believes in FAIR CHANCE to all talents by holding auditions left and right to prospective performers to be chosen, unlike in the Philippines where it's all about whom you know o sino malapit sa kusina (politics at work).
