Kiaraliz Medina will represent Puerto Rico at the Miss America 2013 pageant.

She qualified for the Miss Puerto Rico pageant by winning the Miss Moca pageant.

Her pageant platform is “The Power within Us.”

Her pageant talent is flamenco dancing.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity given me to represent my people and I will proudly,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I want to be the example not only for Puerto Rico, but also for the world. I have the privilege of having a huge support group such as my friends and family. Thank you very much. I promise not to disappoint.”

If crowned Miss America, she will be the first Miss Puerto Rico to earn the national title.

Puerto Rico participated in the Miss America pageant from 1948 to 1956, 1958 and 1961; and returned to annual participation in 2009.

The Miss America pageant is scheduled for January in Las Vegas.

The final night of competition and the crowning of a new Miss America will be broadcast live on the ABC television network.

No puedo encontrar que estados han fallado entrar en las semi-finalistas pero sí encontre esto. "In fact, there are still 20 states and two territories (the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) that haven't had a representative win the prestigious pageant". Falta también US. Virgin Islands. Tampoco me deja investigar mucho en los primeros año ya que el concurso comenzó en el 1921 y no hay tanta información y las reglas han cambiado varias veces.

Ps. Hubo una Miss America que ganó dos veces y la 3ra vez que compite queda 1ra finalista. (Antes a principios se podía concursar más de una vez)

Mimi Pabóm won Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimsuit preliminary and this year Laura Ramírez won the bronze medal of the Duke of Edinburgh being the first puerto rican. I was the second with Miss PR's OTeen 2011, Miss Ponce OTeen 10 and another girl.

Yeah! Finally you know how I feel... I hate when they let GREAT girls pass. This year the national directors said that Laura was the best Puerto Rico has sent.

Oh Lord, all of Miss America Puerto Rico are more beautiful in person, Mimi is gorgeous photos or no photos, Mariselle is very pretty in person she just needs to practice her smile because of her nose even though its not big when you see her in person, Laura in person is very pretty since I know her "su humildad la hace ver más bella" and Kiara is gorgeous I thought she was very tall but I think she is 5'5 or 5'6.
