Miss World 2012 will be the 62nd edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on August 18, 2012 in Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela will crown her successor at the end of the event. The contestants will visit to Hong Kong, Sanya and Shanghai.

Tuesday 24th July 2012: Opening Ceremony

Miss World 2012 gets underway with a spectacular opening ceremony and live concert on July 24th, and we will also be showing all of the highlights as part of the grand final on the 18th August before the main show begins.

40,000 people within the brand new Dongsheng stadium in Ordos will watch on as many of China's leading stars join an international cast in welcoming Miss World to Inner Mongolia.


People viewing the concert will also be able to donate money online towards the Beauty with a Purpose cause. This new Miss World feature will allow thousands of people to become a part of the Miss World experience.

Throughout the 3-day festival, Miss World Up Close and Personal sees five dedicated camera teams living 'in house' at the Regal Airport Hotel giving exclusive round-the-clock TV and online coverage.


For the first time, viewers will be able to watch the Miss World event through the eyes of all 120 Miss World contestants as each contestant is given their own web section on missworld.com to upload their personal progress to the final show.

A world record 120 nations will enter the Ordos Stadium Arena in a spectacular choreographed opening. Miss World 2012 will be broadcast live from Ordos, Inner Mongolia to an audience in excess of one billion viewers in over 160 countries.

We are excited to announce that the live Miss World contest this year will have a 30-minute extended running time allowing us to feature the journey to the final and showcase the world's most glamorous event to a global audience for a full 2.5 hours. Edited highlights from the Miss World Festival will also be broadcast during the live Miss World Final.

Want to know what will happen during the Miss World 2012 event? Here is a complete guide that might help you understand the process.

July 18-20: About 130 contestants from all over the world will descend at Dongsheng airport in Ordos (Inner Mongolia) to kickstart the 62nd Miss World competition.

~ THE INTRODUCTION OF CONTEST ~

The Miss World contest began in 1951, which is a worldwide held the first of the top beauty pageant. The contest was founded to promote British tourism after the British press called it “Miss World”. The contest has now developed into one of the most influential and most successful beauty contests. Race clubs adhering to the “meaningful beauty” and charitable purpose has spread to every corner of the world.
From 1915 to 2011, Miss World has been conducted in over 20 countries and successfully held 61 sessions. Contestants from around the world in over 120 countries and regions participated in, and gradually developed into Culture Festival to spread beauty, health, peace and International Fashion. Its warm and sensation is as much as the Academy Awards. “Miss World” is a unique way to attract the attention of people around the world and the media.

~ BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE ~

Beauty with a Purpose was created by Julia Morley in 1972. It is at the heart of Miss World

Hundreds of millions of pounds have been raised and donated to local and international organisations in aid of disadvantaged children the world over.

Variety, The Children’s Charity, for example, has been closely associated with Beauty with a Purpose for many years.

When Simon Cowell was honoured with the 2010 Humanitarian Award at the Variety World Conference in Hollywood, he kindly remarked that it was Julia Morley who should be collecting the award in his place, for her outstanding work as a humanitarian through Beauty with a Purpose.

Other causes to have benefitted from Beauty with a Purpose include the funding for Cleft Palate Teams in South America, Sri Lanka and Russia, three fundraising tours to support abandoned and neglected children in Vietnam, long term support for both Operation Hunger and the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Africa, and teaming up with Jackie Chan and the Chinese Red Cross in bringing financial aid to those most seriously affected by the Asian tsunami.

During the 2011 Miss World Final in London, Nelson Mandela presented Beauty with a Purpose with a special message which was read out by his grandson, Chief Mandela:

"It is indeed a proud moment for me to stand in front of you today to deliver a message of support from my grandfather Nelson Dalibhunga Mandela, former president of South Africa. Throughout his life, Nelson Mandela has supported humanitarian actions aimed at serving marginalised individuals and communities of our world. Nelson Mandela therefore salutes the Beauty with a Purpose programme which helps children worldwide and which also mobilises young people to be involved in their own country with a useful purpose to assist disadvantaged children. Nelson Mandela would like to extend a congratulatory message to the Beauty with a Purpose programme as you celebrate your 40th birthday and wishes that you grow from strength to strength as you continue with your work of empowering young people to be of service to their communities."

Through the empowerment of Beauty with a Purpose, hundreds of millions of dollars have now been raised to the benefit of the most vulnerable in our society.

The Miss World contestants (with the help of their Miss World National Organisations) have set up Beauty with a Purpose projects in more than 100 countries. This gives tens of thousands of young women every year, the opportunity to use their abilities to make a real and lasting contribution to the lives of the sick and disadvantaged.

The afternoon of May 7, Relevant person in charge from Dong Sheng District Office of the Tourist Board, large scale events, Ordos international culture Exchange Center led officials to site inspection and guidance on the issues about international economic cooperation and accommodation, catering and hospitality work of the 62nd session of the Miss World Finals and the Ordos tourism promotion activities. Among them, Boyuan tensions in the Howard Johnson Hotel is currently undergoing renovation, and responsible persons of relevant departments made specific rectification and reform on issues of construction progress. Hui Neng Giants feast hotel has been put into place and has the ability to receive 900 people simultaneously which subjects to dining requirements of the 62nd session of the Miss World Finals and the Ordos international economic cooperation and the promotion of tourism. The relevant departments put forward the specific guidance on the issues of the hotel staff training and improving specific guidance of the ceremonial reception.


2.ZHONG XING ENERGY COMPANY SELECTED FOR THE 62nd SESSION OF MISS WORLD FINALS NEARLY 20 OUTSTANDING TRANSLATORS OF DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

Recently, the Executive Committee of the 62nd session of Miss World Finals negotiated with Zhong Xing energy on the translation issues. Zhong Xing energy company selected for this event activity nearly 20 outstanding translators of different languages. At present, they have sent 1 English translator to large Office work activities at Dong Sheng. Other translators will be in place under racing events.


3.THE MISS WORLD ORGANIZATION MADE AN ON THE SPOT INVESTIGATION ON THE 62nd SESSION OF THE MISS WORLD FINALS.

Recently, the Miss World Organization made an on-the-spot investigation on the 62nd session of the Miss World Finals and the Ordos Hotel preparations for international economic cooperation and the promotion of tourism activities. The expedition investigated hotel accommodation, food and beverage and front view of Boyuan Howard Johnson Hotel, Hui Neng Giants feast and Ordos Crown holiday and determined Hui Neng Giants feast as a party venue for welcome banquet, coronation dinner and charity dinner.
Government Deputy Chief Ma Baorong and relevant person in charge from Tourism Bureau, Office of the large-scale activities and Ordos international cultural exchange Center accompanied the expedition.


4.PERFORMING STARS SUCH AS JACKIE CHAN, YANG MI WILL APPEAR ON THE STAGE ON THE 62nd SESSION OF MISS WORLD FINALS.

Recently, Erdos international culture Exchange Center has worked with Jackie Chan, Yang Mi, Sun Nan and signed to participate in the opening ceremony protocols, at which time Jackie CHAN as a special guest to attend the 62nd session of Miss World Finals opening ceremony and welcome dinner, which will be held on July 24 in Dong Sheng, district of Ordos city. While Yang Mi, Sun Nan will act as guest of the opening ceremony. Other invited guest performers are negotiated.
