Personally, I do not find Indonesia to be beautiful. Her ears bother me a lot and she has these "traitor's eyes" that just do not sit well with me even when she seems sincere before the camera. In all honesty, I do not feel the sincerity from her. It is the same vibe I got from The Netherlands at Miss Earth 2017 where almost everyone went gaga over her preliminary interview answers when in fact, everything was just memorized and when the finals came, she didn't deliver because the hashtag question wasn't related to her memorized answer. Back to MI Indonesia, I would rather have Thailand or Laos as her replacements on this list.

While most candidates vote for Colombia as their Miss International because of her realness, however, I still am not convinced about it. Yes, she may be real but I am not certain if her realness appeals to the Japanese in general. A Miss International winner calls for grace and refinement, quiet and solitude, and elegance and constraint rolled into one. Does Colombia have all these qualities? I am doubtful.

The Philippines is definitely a worthy contender, however, I am not quite certain if the Japanese organisation would be more than happy and willing to award the country a back-to-back victory. I hope I am wrong on this because I really like this Philippine candidate. If we didn't put Kylie's victory on the equation, then Mariel is my top winner. Miss Philippines is so easy on the eyes.

Nepal is lovely, yes, but I got ticked off when she highlighted the ills of her country the moment she opened her mouth instead of emphasizing her country's best assets before the Japanese audience during the forum. It made me ask, "What possessed this girl to say such bad things about her country?" Tsk! Tsk! Rule of thumb: Always accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative when giving a speech. What comes first from your mouth will always be the very first ones your audience remembers. For every negative feedback, you have to replace it with five positive ones. That is how toxic a negative one-liner is. This was the reason why Miss Philippines 2015 lost her quest for the MI crown because she featured her impoverished life so much in her speech that it made the Japanese audience feel uncomfortable.

For now, my top winner is Japan. This candidate epitomizes the "Old World meets New World" concept in her beauty and styling. There is something in her that is totally different from her predecessors. I will not mind if the organisation crowns her as the new Miss International.

Miss International 2017: Japan
1st Runner-Up: The Philippines
2nd Runner-Up: The Netherlands
