Hi, guys following are some honest thoughts I wanted to share :
Everyone must be knowing about India's tremendous success in beauty pageants in 90s.
Here are few jewels-
While we all know about the changes Madhu Sapre suggested, which were very helpful in preparing Indian girls for international stage. Read here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=656109.
But what I think is the difference between now and then is the stature Of the title Miss India is not what it used to be back in the day among Indian masses.
Parents and girls from all walks of life had a place of respect for the title, hence we saw extraordinary ladies with great beauty, personality and wits competing for the title. We had so many Miss Indias from army background, because it was a deal of honour for the girls and their families.
These days we do get great girls but either they are not serious about it or they have their goal set somewhere else i.e. bollywood and modelling. It's like there is no importance of Miss India club anymore.
And I don't remember anything done by franchise holders in order to magnify the image of the title.
I mean really, I follow pageants and it seems like what Femina Miss India's are doing all year, apart from competing in international pageants is attending filmfare, doing three fashion shows and attending three other industry charity or promotional events as chief guests.
I little more respect for the title may actually do good.
Its high time that organisers stopped banking on the success of Aish, Sush, priyanka etc..
Provide scholarship to the winner, establish a charity or organisation which accepts Miss Indias as their premium members.
And for chrissake Improve quality of Judges in final events. Yo yo honey singh ----- SERIOUSLY. Telling girls, come here grab this opportunity and yo yo crap will judge you for that.
Those of you don't know about Honey Singh, he has been widely criticised for not respecting women in his rap lyrics mainly.
Look at the stage production of MI now and the one in 90's, you'll now how serious Femina used to be and is now about the pageant.
If you want to get back in the game, you've to be passionate about it. Hire the right people for starters and publicize it the right way.
