So Bollywood is her ultimate aim?? These girls should be disqualified in the first place as they see these pageants just as a launching pad for Bollywood. They don't even care whether they bring back the international crown, whether they perform well internationally and make the country proud. All they care for is just fame & recognition enuf to get a ticket to films. u can't really blame them buddy, it's the kind of exposure they get, rather than interviewing them about how they decided to join the pageant fiber or how are their preparations going on, they are asked who is their favorite actor, whether they want to get into bollywood, etc. What impression did this year's PFMI leave on us? 3/4th of the time we were seeing stupid bollywood actors perfroming and the contestants themselves had a side role. These girls are just being lured to bollywood so the fault lies in media and disgusting people who are luring them. But we can't deny that it has changed the perspective of all girls

I dont see anything wrong with girls going in for Bollywood..Whats wrong in it? Infact its good that this girl is determined and she knows where she needs to head towards in her life..Pageants are a platform for the girls which will uplift their careers in the various fields if they wish too..It could also be the field of Politics as seen in other countries..Pageants make u a public figure which enable or rather make ur dream come true easier..But unfortunately in India the opportunity is limited only till Bollywood..Its only Bolly film makers who approach these girls..So lets not put down bollywood or anyother field of Interest..

I'm not saying that harbouring a Bollywood dream is wrong. I am myself a big movie buff. But my point is that girls should take part in Femina or IAS with the sole intention of winning it & eventually win the international crown. The focus should be maintained. Otherwise, the moment they win the national pageant, they feel their goal is achieved. Sooner or later some filmmaker will approach them and hence they go to the international pageant with a 'I don't care' attitude. In that case the result is for everyone to see.First focus on the pageant itself, work hard towards it and once you are done with it completely, THEN chase your dream. That is just fine. When you are a pageant contestant, your dream should be the crown & not the Filmfare trophy, which can wait. As someone rightly pointed out, the media is hugely responsible for this. Femina this year was ALL about Bollywood with so many performances, sidelining the girls. I don't know whether it was the editing of the show or not, I personally did not quite like the show. Last year's show was still better.

MU ( placing shamcey and brazil ) , MW ( England, korea, Philippines ) and miss earth ( India and Czech republic out). It is really heart breaking for the girls when they don't achieve what they deserve. I feel nothing wrong about it. If they dream for films. Even films don't accept cows.....so they have to be in shape. But unfortunately ....Miss Indias this year are nothing but clowns to laugh at !

I just read a blog written by Mariette called 'whirlwind' i wasn't aware she took part in May Queen 2011, which Deepika Bajwa won, Mariette was her second runner up.

The blog itself is quite humorous, Mariette comes across as a really easy going and down to earth girl but a diva at the same time, she even admitted that pageants weren't her thing and that her initial thoughts of them were, that it was all pretentious and for bimbos!

She states in her blog that the organizers weren't very helpful in preparing and getting her ready. She also states when she past the first 2 rounds she knew she was going to ace the QA round! Uhm thats the key to winning IAS, as thats what they want a terrific comunicator and i know some people here class that as an aunty with thick framed classes but i have to disagree i think Mariette is stunning, she has pretty face (some may disagree but there are some really stunning candid pics of her on her FB) there's no way i would consider in the same league as Ushoshi or Vasuki, she is much prettier, more fun, spunky and sassy might i add. I like her and i actually think with the right styling and preparation she would do well, she's definatley a smart girl and definatley not a 'all mouth no action girl' like Vasuki

I second your opinion Mariette can be a decent representative what she requires is better styling and her skin looks dull so some work on her skin will completely transform her she won't be a bad choice

i know of a guy who has spoken to mariette in person. from the feedback he gave,shes down to earth n sweet. she has normal hair n is quite pretty. the only letdown is her height. for people who say vasuki/ushoshi is better than her,id adopt wings style and say,NEXT!!

Mariette is real sweetheart, she's an articulate speech, a great figure, and good sense of humor which our femina mis india 2012 lacks...she's just brilliant, i have to agree she's not the conventional beauty queen, but still can give Sush and LARA a run for their titles

I have to admit even i noticed the stretch marks as well but that can easily be sorted, it's all about the right make-up and styling with this girl, she got everything else, she would need to sort out for herself as IAS are gonna do f#$€* all for her or whoever the winner will be!

That Julia girl is meant to be an INSANELY hard worker, apparently a year ago she taught herself to speak, read and write both Hindi and Urdu from scratch! Looks-wise, she's definitely IAS winner material and she has the height too at 5'9. During Kingfisher she seemed very articulate and well-spoken so that will definitely work in her favour. Let's wait and watch

Mariette is also stunning, a great speaker and of a good background. India really needs to embrace its dusky beauties and get over the whole fairness trend.

I'd be happy if either of these beauties won!
