Indonesia's Pavilion: A Big Hit at World Expo 2010 Shanghai

Indonesia's Pavilion is One of the Favorites at World Expo 2010 Shanghai
Image

Initially, Indonesia's target was to get 3 million visitors within 6 months of time (May 1st – October 21st, 2010). Instead, Indonesia's pavilion at the expo reached the target in 2 months! It has attracted more and more visitors, and by 26th of July the visitors has accomplished more than 4,000,000 persons. A big hit due to the fact that committee set the target of 3,000,000 for the whole period of expo.

The pavilion looks simple from the outside, but as you step in you will quickly realize that it is choke-full of information. Indonesia Pavilion was mentioned on the category of "Best Overall", where altogether with other pavilions in Zone B, they have the best balance of short lines, quality exhibits and outdoor performance.

About the expo:
The Shanghai World Expo is the most expensive Expo in the history of the world's fairs. It is also the largest World's Fair site ever at 5.28 square km. More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world to come and visit the World Expo. More than 70–100 million visitors are expected to visit the expo, which would make it the most visited in history. As of July 27th, 2010 over 33 million people have visited the expo according to the official site. As of July 28th, 2010 the highest attendance day was 557,200 on 7/17 day 78 while the lowest attendance day was 88,900 on 5/5 day 5.

Like this...
I've never seen before that we had this modern presentation.
Been several time attended Japan Matsuri in Indonesia, I wish that Indonesia also had Indonesian Festival abroad and wishing I can be there and feel the excitement of our own cultures.

Philippines Pavilion

Designed by the firm of famous Filipino architect Ed Calma, Philippine pavilion’s façade will be dominated by the Pinoy hand as its major visual statement to emphasize the human dimension in urbanization, and to assert the Filipino’s genius at (hand)crafting vital relationships through work, art, and play. Hands belonging to artists, workers, peasants, women, men and boxing heroes, among others, shall be painted on all sides of the pavilion exterior and the queuing area.

To mirror the Philippines own theme of “Performing Cities,” its pavilion’s interior shall present a “seamless melange of exhibitions, performances and videos that showcase the assets of the Philippines’ best performing cities. These cities are Iloilo, Naga, Cebu, Manila, Malaybalay, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Calbayog, San Fernando (La Union), Makati and Taguig cities.

The pavilion will feature daily perfomances by Filipino artists and entertainers, including the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Philippines, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, pianist Cecille Licad, Joanna Go, Rachelle Gerodiea and the group, Kontra Gapi.

The Philippines has previously won gold for best pavilion at both the World Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan, and the Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain.

Theme : "Performing Cities”
Architect: Ed Calma
Cost: PhP450 million
