Is it only me who have always wanted to go to scary places? Those places that have scary stories about ghosts and spirits?

But I have a question, does anyone live there? if not,why have the Japanese people leaved the island like this? what is the actual story about this island? :)>-

The island is now uninhibited. It was known for its coal mines and apartment buildings were built to accommodate its workers. It was abandoned when the coal mines were shut down and were replaced by petroleum. Now, these buildings are collapsing. It hasn't been maintained for a long time.

The island actually has a rich coal reservoir underwater. The Japanese decided to exploit its resources over a century ago and gradually built a city above it with a mining facility underneath. At the peak of this little "civilization," it became densely populated by civilians and miners. The work to get to the coal was incredibly dangerous. The mine shafts ran more than 1,000 meters below sea level, and the miners had to endure intense heat and humidity, frequented by gas explosions. More than half of the miners in the island died each year. During World War II, they outsourced the labour to Korean and Japanese slave workers, most of whom were killed in the mining process. When Japan decided to switch to oil as an energy source, the coil industry plummeted and the island was abandoned. It is currently accessible to the public from the Nagazaki mainland.

I made a term paper about this in college. :-D :-D :-D

I find abandoned places truly fascinating - especially the idea of opulent decay like this one:
