Saudi prince jailed for murder in Britain to be sent home

A gay Saudi prince jailed for life in Britain for murdering his servant is to serve the rest of his sentence in his home country, a British government source said.
Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz Bin Nasir, a grandson of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah II, was jailed in 2010 for killing Bandar Abdullah Abdulaziz in a London hotel after subjecting him to a "sadistic" campaign of violence and sexual abuse.
The source confirmed that British Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has approved the 36-year-old prince's transfer to a jail in Saudi Arabia.
The source could not specify when the prince would be transferred, but The Times newspaper reported that he was expected to fly home within weeks.
Britain's justice ministry said it did not comment on individual prison transfer cases.
But a ministry spokeswoman told AFP: "We have a prison transfer arrangement with Saudi Arabia which allows nationals of either country to serve their prison sentence in their home state."
Saud denied that he was gay but the trial at London's Old Bailey court heard that he had ordered gay escorts in London and had frequently looked at websites for gay massage parlours and escort agencies.
His lawyers argued that he could face the death penalty in Saudi Arabia over the revelations of homosexuality.
The jury heard that the prince was fuelled by champagne and cocktails when he beat and strangled Abdulaziz to death on February 15, 2010 after the pair had returned from a Valentine's Day night out.
A post-mortem found that Abdulaziz had suffered heavy blows to the head, injuries to the brain and ears and severe neck injuries consistent with strangulation by hand.
Prosecutors said bite marks on his cheeks showed a clear "sexual element" to the killing.

he will just serve the remaining sentence in saudi. he could not be sentenced to death penalty in saudi arabia because he is already serving sentence by a final judgment in london. he cannot also be sentenced by death penalty in saudi on the basis of chismis.

I don't know about you but my take on this is that if he is returned to Saudi Arabia he wil go scot-free given that he is a prince and Saudi is an absolute monarchy. why does Britain has to do this? money changed hands?

It would be the same sentence, I think this means that British penal rules would follow except he would be in Saudi. There is an existing agreement between UK and Saudi that UK nationals convicted in Saudi can serve their terms in their homeland and vice-versa. Saudi being an absolute monarchy has nothing to do here because the prince would still technically be a prisoner of the British government.

Although I do agree that he might get better treatment at home....

He's a princeling and like all 4000 of them they get special privileges and treatment as direct heirs and descendants of the Royal House of Saud. He could be banished to some friendly Arab country and the case will "die" a natural death after that. While in saudi Arabia, he wouldn't be put behind prison walls, at worse he will be placed under house arrest with all the attendant royal treatment afforded to someone of his status and social standing. He could even get a a royal pardon after a while as some smart-ass lawyer will try to subvert the applicable laws, maybe some blood money will be raised and paid to the family of the deceased depending on the accused bloodline relation and his direct lineage to the House of Saud. Tons of money will change hands and will walk the talk.

finally, someone made a sensible comment about this issue. to add, he committed the crime in london and not in saudi so the saudi justice system cannot reverse what london court had already punished him with so to all who thought that death will punish him too in saudi are all fucking brainless idiots.
