MI vs ME?

Postby Matariki » Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:07 pm

No Comparison at all as both are respected pageants in the pageant community.

MISS INTERNATIONAL

Image

If there is one crown that I wish to put on my head, it is the MI crown. Its vintage design screams "glory" and "royalty". For me its the most precious crown among all the pageants in the world. And I can't remember MI changing crowns ever, correct me if I'm wrong. Japanese love to keep their tradition and it is evident on how they managed to keep the original MI crown for years. Plus the winners of MI are decent. I also would like to commend them for starting to recognize women of colour. But two things they need to improve are:

Upgrade the production
- I would still love to see the MI org to boost their production though with an unforgettable stage design - maybe an origami inspired stage backdrop.

More and different pre-pageant activities
- It seems that the girls from previous and current editions have similar pre-pageant activities. Japanese culture is rich and Japan has more to offer.

MISS EARTH

Image

Miss Earth is starting to become more relevant and incomparable as it matures. Among all pageants, it is the most innovative and resourceful (which really fascinates fans every year). And for many years now, they still have the best pre-pageant activities. Things they need to improve:

Change the crown
- though it has a lot of symbolism, the design is not appealing at all. The elemental crowns look 100x better.

Stop favouring the Philippines
- the org thinks that because it is held in the Philippines and it is a Philippine-owned pageant, Filipinos will favour their own candidate. What the ME Org fails to see is that Filipino Fans appreciate a candidate who is well-prepared, spontaneous, and a complete package. Look at how Filipino netizens supported Miss Ghana this year. People think pinoys are racist when it comes to black candidates, but Miss Ghana had gained thousands of pinoy fans this year. Also, despite the rift between Philippines and Puerto Rico after Miss World 2016, pinoys still cheered and supported the win of Miss Puerto Rico in ME 2019. I would say that pinoys are the best fans of any candidate who will showcase the best version of themselves.

Better interpreting services
- I have been hoping for this for years and it seems that ME is not paying much attention to this.

What are your thoughts on these two pageants?

FYI, Miss International has placed Japan the longest streak of 18 years. 9 years consecutive placements & another 9 years streak. So why single out Miss Earth when Miss Earth can talk the talk & walk the walk without memorizing speeches? Did you know that if USA fails to place in Miss Universe the tv rating goes down?

BOTH PAGEANTS ARE OUTSTANDING AND FORM PART OF THE BIG FOUR...

BUT, TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION BASED ON SENIORITY...

IT'S STILL MISS INTERNATIONAL...
Praise the name of LORD JESUS!

Among all pageants, I only religiously follow and watch Miss Earth. If I like our contestant, I will follow and watch Miss Universe but if not, I am not that interested.

MEO shall continue to evolve through the years. Ramon Monzon's business acumen and the endearing attitude of a Lorraine Schuck, coalesce in a duo that will bring this pageant to even greater heights. ME is poised to grow better, and bigger, if we take the 2019 edition as a gauge. And to bolster this, the ascension in authority of the daughter who has been very visible in all recent ME activities, ascertains this forward looking push.

MIO finds itself "trapped" and can't seem to depart from the celebrated adage of "beauty in minimalism". Despite its long history, "less is more" was what MI seemed to have followed all throughout these past years. MIO finds itself guided of age-old tradition and seeks a balancing act in view of the Japanese conservatism of old, culture, and traditions. Despite recent changes toward its 58th year history, MI is seen by most as entrenched and bound to stay within its own niche.

No compromise either way. If only for its entertainment value, I truly love both pageants!

Personally I like MI more .
There’s a certain look that they are looking for ...doll like , child-woman , ultra feminine candidates .
I seriously think that Eat Bulaga should get MI franchise kasi yung mga Miss Millenial nila suits the MI standards perfectly ... fresh looking girls and very feminine .

ME walang look silang hinahanap ... kahit sino na lang . Whoever na nag stand out that night .. sya na .

Just to clear misconceptions and set the records straight. Whoever stood out during the final show, including the 3 queens in the elemental court, was "culled" from the pre-judging preliminary rounds, each with a separate set of criteria that culminated in the combined scores in determining the top 18. The other 2 semi finalists were selected from a poll by ba panel taken outside the preliminary events.

One more thing that I like about MI is the amount of preparation of the Binibini chosen to compete there .
Ahtisa consulted a UP professor who lived in Japan and studied the Japanese culture .
Bea Santiago said she too studied the Japanese culture , their likes and dislikes . She even said that they are being judged from day 1.
Everything is calculated . Even in unguarded moments they should carry themselves well.
So it’s not just about theIr pasarela , their gown etc on the pageant night .

No need to Compare. If you noticed in recent years the 4 biggest pageants had created their criteria and format. Miss Universe with the new continental semifinals and focuses more on the girls' advocacies than the usual Pasarella, MW with its Fast tracks, social work driven and surprising selection of finalists, ME with 3 different prelims/Categories, and MI with their prelim and unique speeches. These define #MajorPageant unlike others that copied each concept from the 4 Major then called themselves Tough3. =;))

De maganda .

The point is ...
Sa mas gusto ko ang MI eh .
And I gave my reasons .

And there’s no denying that a Binibini must undergo a very intensive training to compete in MI .

Alin ang di maganda? Kaya nga MI eh. At kaya ME? Each pageant is unique in its own that identifies it from the rest. We simply do not set nor determine the parameters. We simply watch and make choices. Peace out!

ME is growing and getting better while MI is stuck in their old tradition ways which in my opinion is boring to some other people. But both of them are good that is why they are part of the big 04. Tsaka don't forget na 6 na korona na ang nakukuha natin sa MI, so at least we have to be grateful for that... >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p >=p <:-P

Basta kasama sa Major Pageants ang MI and ME but the only pageant that I religiously follow and update is Miss Earth coz of its advocacy, fun-filled activities and final night excitement.

I give it a SALUTE! The stage, the pace, the best Miss Earth production! Oh I remember the one held at the National Museum I think? That was also memorable. Kudos to Miss Earth and Puerto Rico!

Wow, talaga lang self proclaimed? Ano kay Angkol Nawat lang? Who proclaimed Miss Earth to be part of Big4? Was it Carousel? Does Carousel care? Nope di ba? Look at what Global Bullshit did to Miss Earth, nothing bad happened, instead Miss Earth is flourishing. You are just schooled, dont let your anger ruin you, use the proper words para wag ka lalong magmukhang ignorant. Sayang mukha namang may pinag aralan ka pero di lang na a apply. =;)) =;))

I MEAN IN THE EYES OF THE FILIPINOS...WHEN THEY THINK OF

MISS UNIVERSE = GLORIA DIAZ AND SO ON...HANDS DOWN...ANDUN SA KAMALAYAN NG MGA FILIPINOS...

MISS WORLD = YUNG MGA BABY BOOMERS LAGING BUKAMBIBIG NILA SI EVANGELINE PASCUAL THEN NAGING SIKAT NA ARTISTA NOON...HANGGANG UMABOT SA PANAHON NI RUFFA...RUFFA MADE MISS WORLD POPULAR IN THE PHILIPPINES BACK THEN...PAG MISS WORLD AUTOMATIC SI RUFFA NA YON!

MISS INTERNATIONAL = OF COURSE THE MELANIE MARQUEZ. YAN ANG UNANG PUMASOK SA ISIPAN NG LAHAT NG MGA 104 MILLION FILIPINOS. SIKAT NA ARTISTA. SIKAT NA MODELO SA BUONG MUNDO....

IT'S BASICALLY TIME AND TRADITION...THOSE 3 PAGEANTS I BELIEVED ANDUN SA ISIPAN NG MGA PINOYS....

SO JOPNAS GAPOD IS RIGHT AT LEAST FOR HIM....YUN NAMAN TALAGA ANG INAASAM ASAM. KASI PROVEN NA YAN NA MAGING CELEBRITY KA NA SIKAT MOST LIKELY. MISS UNIVERSE , MISS WORLD, MISS INTERNATIONAL.... <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
