Miss Earth is not Philippines

Women need to be heard whether it is pageants, politics or normal life. I am aghast by the news of certain MEO contestants being sexually harassed. What troubles me more is a certain section of the forum have taken personally to malign these three girls. The least we all could do is not malign or shame them... Sexual harassment is sometimes so veiled that often it is unnoticeable; it doesn't mean the guilty should be scot-free just because it doesn't have a majority approval. Harassment is harassment irrespective!

Also, I'd request Pinoy forumers to stop linking everything MIss Earth with the Philippines. I will refrain commenting about the pageant because I do not have the expertise in nor I have been a follower. All I can say is these are serious allegations on the pageant and its organisers. Our earnest endeavour must be to create an environment where Women irrespective of what she is or where she belongs to should have the right to feel safe. As a woman who has been sexually abused, I stand for women like me who faced harassment at school, college, work or for that matter walking down the road. Sexual Predators are everywhere, hiding behind their well-crafted suits, fancy cars or powerful professions; But they all must remember THEIR TIME IS UP!

Tell that to the Latin and Indonesian sourgrapes who blame EVERYTHING TO THE HOSTING CAPABILITIES OF PHILIPPINES. They are everywhere, but congregating like baboons in instagram.

Thanks.

Speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I’m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. - Oprah Winfrey

miss kelly just a question. what about those who are victims of female sexual predators?

in the philippines, one famous female sexual predator is even a senator.

Dear Cindy,

Harassment is harassment irrespective of the gender.

I don’t know if this news are really true or its just a promo controversy for the media mileage of Miss Earth... Anyways, please don’t blame Lorraine or the ME Organization for this untoward incident. Blame only the maniacal man!...... At para sa mga bakla dito na dinadawit si Digong. Haleer debah mas nakakadiri nga yang si Kristeta nyo, puro ibat ibang lalake kinakabitan tapos puro may asawa pa. And worst of all nagka STD pa. =O/ =O/ =O/ At sa mga nagsasabing baket nadadamay si Kris sa usapan natoh, pwes tanungin nyo muna mga sarili nyo kung baket nyo dinadamay si Duterte sa usapang ito... =O/ =O/ =O/

Innocent until proven guilty but I agree with u 100 % these women should be supported not maligned. The best thing to do is stop blaming Miss Earth and stop maligning these women! There is what u call due process, unless u live in uncivilized society. So keep your mouth shot....blaming this and that! Get it ! Got it! :)>-

For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up.

I remembered this happened in ms international sometime back. in fact our candidate backed out before the contest. I guess men are what they are but nowadays women can retaliate thru the legal system. many Asian men still think of women as chattels. example : are very own president =O/ =O/ =O/

I decided to respond because of your comment about the serious allegations against the org because of what happened. As you know, there are always 2-3 sides to a story.

I applaud these women for speaking up Kelly but the org did take measures to make them feel safer after they heard of the complaints. The alleged perpetrator was banned from all private events (it was harder to do it in public events). The org tightened their securities even more. Everyone was asked to put in writing anything related to sexual advances from this guy so the org could build up a case. None did. In fact, Canada just left without even saying goodbye. Come to find out, she took a modeling gig somewhere else. England was even heard cursing Lorraine Schuck with the F word while she was talking to her and Canada on the phone.

Then after the pageant, the women posted their experiences on social media and made it sound as if no one in the org cared and nothing was ever done. That’s why some of the other women spoke up in defense of the org because they were there too. Despite the treatment it received, they offered the women legal services to go after the perpetrator. Let’s see if the women take advantage of that.

I agree that these women ought be heard and that no one should attack them personally. But realize that they were given the opportunity to cooperate with the org. They were even reassured that the incident won’t affect their chances in the pageant. And yet they chose to come out swinging on social media forcing the org to come out with an official statement with the utmost sensitivity.

By no means am I downplaying what happened to them. But I also want to put everything in proper perspective.

Many Filipinos will protect each other even if it's a serial Killer. Although not all but many, specially the arrogant ones. But I know Filipinos like the palm of my hand and I know they are quite humiliated about this after arrogantly boasting against Miss Gwand International. Now they have to drink their own poison and they know this very well. The sad part is, these girls will most likely never see justice as justice is very scarce in the Philippines.

Gosh Nina. You are so out of line here. Here was Kelly sharing her history of sexual abuse and concerns for other victims of sexual harrasment and all you can talk about is your dislike of Filipinos. I’m not even sure where the MGI comment came from. I apologize in his behalf, Kelly.

So insensitive. Goodness gracious... [-X

The one being insensitive is you. The point Kelly was making was directed at People like you. Who defend this Pageant completely disregarding of the suffering and the safety of these girls. The message was directed at people exactly like you. Obviously you didn't get it. I don't dislike Filipinos, I know them very well and I know there are some like you who will defend their interest no matter the consequences and the people who suffer because of it. Got it? I doubt it.

Nina should be the object of Miss Gwand International's advocacy which is "Stop the War"; she always instigates people into conflict even if thread starters mean well. She is always awake to anything about the Philippines--whether it's good or bad--as she gains self-worth and satisfaction for her bullshit. She is one who deserves to be harassed into infinity.

He also molested Miss England.
Manang mana sa amo niyang si Digong. >:< >:< >:<
