A question for MGI fans and supporters

Postby KMAIr » Mon Oct 29, 2018 2:56 am

With the recent conclusion of MGI, I’ve been really intrigued by this pageant’s advocacy.

While the production has been above average and the pre-pageant photos look polished, Can you post pictures or provide proof that the org is really “walking the talk”

Quite recently, Myanmar has been put on the world spotlight reagarding the fueling ethnic tension and violence against Myanmar’s Muslim minority, including the Rohingya.
It seems like this is the opportune time for the pageant organization to prove it’s worth.

Hence, the question. What has this pageant done to “stop the war” ?

I understand that at the end of the day it still is just another beauty pageant.
What would be really wonderful though, is if you guys can provide pics and/or references with regards to MGIs advocacy.

The ball is in your hands MGI.
Prove your worth and the world will listen ( universe rather )

Sorry for the typos. Typing from my phone.

Is this the first time MGI did this? I suppose this could be a good start, but I have a sneaky suspicion this is just for show.
I’m quite surprised the pageant didn’t even touch on the issue of escalating violence in Myanmar.

MGI has not been part of discussions on the repatriation issue to date, when in fact They ARE IN MYANMAR
And have they offered other support to engage the process? to ensure that the voices of refugees are taken into consideration?

Why choose Syria, when I honestly thought they had the balls to stage a pageant in Myanmar AND at the same time prove their worth as a reputable pageant?

One charitable act is NOT commensurate to being an advocate for stopping the war. Surely there has been OTHER pre pageant activities that could relate to their advocacy?

Superficial proof is not sufficient. But yes, it Is a good start.

Interested to see how this pageant handles serious political matters.

I understand there has been clamor for a separate national pageant.
Advocacy will be the main driving factor if ever that will happen in the near future.
I see potential, but it is too superficial to be considered legitimate at this point in time.

That’s what I was thinking as well.
One charitable act does not mean you’re really committed to your cause.
But we’ll see what happens.
The organization’s Intentions will always be revealed later on. Time will tell.

SAME FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS.

CLAIMING THAT IT IS THE TOP 3 PAGEANT IS JUST SO NOT RESONATING THE "STOP THE WAR" CAUSE BECAUSE IT IS PRETTY DEBATABLE.

What causes war? Greed, Politics, Violence and Intolerance. Why don't you as an ORG. visit countries with high violence rates? Create trips to visit children and help keep em of the streets, or create awareness of diferrence issues that make countries be tense against each other ect. Not every pageant HAS to have an advocacy but you cannot just "Stop the War", look for the reasons behind war. Think smaller.

Yes yes! That’s what I’m talking about.
Hit the nail on the head buddy.

I swear if ever I see another vid of Nawat throwing shade at another pageant I will seriously think everything MGI is all about is just for show.

Claiming in FRONT of PUBLIC AUDIENCE that it is the 3rd biggest beauty pageant in the world is PURE HYPOCRISY and soooooo FAKE NEWS. MI and ME has never claimed publicly their ranking in beauty pageantry. Not even the minor pageants claim their status in the pageantry but MGI is soooo BOLD and LOUD in proclaiming their status which is FAKE, FALSE and NO BASIS! How could they possibly declare to the entire world and universe about their ranking when you don't have ANY EVIDENCE and PROOF? Are you not disseminating FALSE INFORMATION? What kind of pageant does this kind of falsehood?

Then the advocacy of STOP THE WAR? Really? SERIOUSLY? what has the pageant done to stop the war? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA It is more than enough that MGI is propagating false claim but adding an advocacy that is unrealistic with no concrete actions and projects to address their advocacy is just PURE JOKE and RIDICULOUS!
:!! :!! :!! =;)) =;)) =;)) [-X [-X [-X

I don't give a shit about there advocacy all i care about is about is the beauty the glamour and the competition. i'm so tired of the girls pretending that they care about some random shit.

I'm basically tired of pageants having to be about saving the world? What wrong with wanting to compete and been entertaining.

Because the beauty pageant you want serves no purpose in this enlightened modern world other than stereotypical entertainment value and it perpetualizes women exploitation.

Thank you, the reality thinga like pageants are slighty outdated in a modern society so like monarchies they have to evolve. Its either that or early extintion. There's nothing really interesting about women being just pretty for 3 hours on a stage. Plus majority of people do care about a certain advocacy, whether they prsctice it or not, so I do think the girls do care about the advocacies. Women are complex beings and like you said in a modern society pageants usually hurt that by perpetrating the oposite idea. Then again like many people I guess to me it boils down to "Okay youre pretty.... and? What more can you offer?"

What are the advocies of Miss Universe, Miss International or Miss Supranational?

Can you point out anything done in last couple of year by any of the reigning queens of these pageants other than crowning winners of various countries?

This Pinoy-hate fest for MGI is really getting lame, Don't like it? move on////

I don't think Supra or International have advocacies which is irrelevant to the case of MGI choosing a irrealistic advocacy they cannot fullfil. It's not hate to want to se improvement in a pageant you like for none are without fault

Drumbeating to the world that you are the 3rd Biggest Pageant is a lame act and so pathetic. It's not you who will tell us that, but let the people say it. In the case of MGI, they are just fooling themselves, the highest form of mediocrity in the pageant world.

REALISTICALLY SPEAKING WHICH PAGEANT CAN REALLY MAKE A HUGE IMPACT IN THEIR SO CALLED CAUSES. YOU ARE INSANE IF YOU THINK MGI HAS ANY INFLUENCE OVER RELIGIOUS WARFARE...THAT'S SOMETHING FOR GOVERNMENT TO INTERVENE IN...ANYTHING MGI DOES WOULD ONLY BE CLICHE WORDS FOR LIP SERVICE AND PHOTO-OPS.

ONLY MISS WORLD HAS A REASONABLE ADVOCACY FOR A PAGEANT WERE YOU CAN SEE THE TANGIBLE CHANGE PUT FORWARD BY ITS PROGRAMMES AND CHARITY WORK OF ITS CANDIDATES.

WHAT HAS Miss Universe DONE TO IMPROVE HIV STIGMA OR INFECTION RATES? WHAT HAS MI DONE TO INCREASE CULTURAL RELATIONS? ME HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO IMPROVE THE DECLINE OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT...ATLEAST NOTHING THAT HASNT ALREADY BE DONE OR SAID IN THE THOUSAND GO GREEN CAMPAIGNS WE'VE HEARD SINCE CHILDHOOD.

GIVE US A BREAK AND STOP FOOLING YOURSELF...WE ALL KNOW THE ADVOCACY IS TO QUELL THE IMAGE AND IDEA OF FEMALE OBJECTIFICATION BY PAGEANT ORGS.

WHY SHOULD THEY DO THAT? IN MY OPINION, THEIR ADVOCACY IS ACTUALLY RELEVANT. IT MAYBE UNREALISTIC YES, BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT ITS NOT VALID. THOUGH I THINK THAT ITS WISER TO PROMOTE PEACE RATHER THAN STOPPING THE WAR.

NAWAT OWNS MGI AND HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH HIS PAGEANT.

IF YOU WANT A PAGEANT WITH NO ADVOCACY, THEN START YOUR OWN PAGEANT.

None of you answer my question both of you just said Mehhh its 2018

It's not about saving the world, its about using a platform for something other than just glitz and glamour. And she did told you why pageants who are just "youre beautiful physically, nothing else matters" are problematic tho. Majority of these women are not faking there advocacies, many do want to be more than a pretty face

from" little acorns oaks do grow". meaning you take baby steps which Might lead to bigger things. especially young people watching ms earth for example, they will see the advocacy of preserving nature like contestants planting trees or visting esteros . these images will sow seeds in their minds that cleanliness and preserving trees will be good for all...Pia's advocacy of preventing HIV by early testing and safe sex seems lame but prevention is a major key in preventing Hiv transmission. i have seen Pia talk on stage and pass this message to the youth. The idea will form in their minds that safe sex is the most important step in hiv prevention and remember that a miss universe told them that. the seeds sown in the minds of these listening young people cannot be measured . all I can say is that the benefits to our society is incalculable. constant repetition is also a powerful tool especially if message is delivered by a powerful figure like agorgeous miss universe

Truth is, advocacy or not, MGI has grown exponentially this year. Specially in the Latino market. It has solidified its standing with so many Latinos from all Latin Countries participating in their threads and media outlets. Even here in Missosology, Miss Earth and Miss International threads pale in comparison to the International activity in MGI Topic. Many Latino Missologist and fans are making youtube videos and reviewing MGI. MGI also conquered a lot of ground with the Filipino audience. Filipinos were the most active of all in MGI outlets and they basically exploded their Facebook feeds after the finals. Watever MGI is doing is definitely working, specially in the Latino an Asian Markets.

The MGI final has gotten very high reviews among Latino fans and Missologists, Specially the opening since it seemed like the Perfect opening for the Latin Market.

I do have to agree with that, MGI has extremely high potential which is why its grown like this. Miss International is not really followed in Latin America unless you are a pageant fan, Miss Earth is starting to gain some momentum now.

I think this year ME has been pretty slow . I think ME has it's years counted and will die sooner than we might anticipate. MGI on the other hand, is growing exponentially, now with more media attention than both ME and International. I think MGI has weakened both Pageants dramatically and will continue to do so.

If you want Advocacy watch Miss Earth.
If you want beauty and only beauty, watch Miss Grand.
If you go for beauty and personality, embrace Miss Universe.
If you love Julia, stay with Miss World.
If you are into Oriental Princess stuff, watch Miss International.
...................................................
Just choose the pageant that makes you happy. No need to analyze.
I don't expect all beauty pageants to be the same.
If you hate a certain pageant and still follow it, then you're a fan.

Actually "Stop the Violence" has more advocacy movements/initiatives than "Stop the War". Just like the gun violence in schools, LGBTQ discrimination, #MeToo movement and others that they should took the opportunity to spread awareness to the youth.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE BUT I BEAUTY QUEEN TELLING ME TO PRACTICE HABITS TO PRESERVE THE ENVIRONMENT OR TO HAVE SAFE SEX TO PREVENT HIV ISNT ANYMORE EFFECTIVE THAN WHAT TEACHERS OR MY PARENTS ALREADY TAUGHT ME.

FURTHERMORE NOTHING IS SAID ABOUT HIV DURING THE LIVE TELECASTS OF Miss Universe SO UNLESS YOU ARE A FAN THAT FOLLOWS THE ORG ON SOCIAL MEDIA CHANCES ARE YOU WONT GET THAT MESSAGE WHICH ISNT ANYTHING BUT A FOOTNOTE. AND PIA WAS 2 REIGNS AGO...WHAT HAS BEEN DONE AFTER HER OR IN THE PRESENT??

MGI is a true BEAUTY pageant and who gives a f*ck with these superficial "causes". =;))

We are all here to be entertained and witness a REAL beauty to be crowned as the winner. The purpose or cause of these pageants are just for publicity purposes! =;))

Let's support these pageants regardless if they have a realistic cause or not. The only pageant you should not support is Mess Earth! =;))
