Story behind the crowns

Image
Miss Nepal 2016 Crown handcrafted by RB Diamond Jewellers

Image
Inspired from the Sun, Moon, Rhododendron, Historic temples, the supporting pieces and patterns signify our country one way or another.

Image
All the three crowns have been completely inspired by the places we are born in and the culture we have created ourselves.

Image
The first crown represents Power of Nepalese artistry whereas the second and third crowns represent People and Purity respectively.

Image
Crafting the centerpieces that represent Power, People and Purity has been the most overwhelming and exciting part of making of the crowns.

Image
Elements of the crown were crafted first to be structured on the crown later

Image
A framework was designed and structured to hold all the elements of the crown together

Image
Thick mud was applied all over the bucket for the placement of pieces of metal later on. Strips of silver pieces were bent and joined at several points which would be the outline of the crown. The sharp angled sterling silver pieces justified the charm of the icy Himalayas.

Image
Placing the Elements was an enduring process and the elements needed to be placed in right manner. Some pieces had to be taken out and new pieces had to be added to make sure the concept and design were in sync and placed in the best way possible.

Image
The true magic began with the soldeting of the small parts to form a single crown structure. The foundation was soldered and plastered into its full round shape, which was left overnight for setting.

Image
When the plaster was dissolved, the crown took its preliminary shape

Image
Before pre-polishing the structured has to be thoroughly washed in special solution.

Image
Strands of threads are inserted through every holes of the crown structure. With back and forth hand movements, the crown goes through the first step of pre-polishing. Then, more than 20 different types of buffing tools are used to ensure smooth inner and outer surfaces. Finally, the crown is put in the tumbler that goes through rotational movements. 24 hours of continuous pre-polishing makes it fully ready for stone-setting.

Image
Stones from various origins were placed individually into the structure. Each crowns have a Kyanite which is mined and cut in Nepal. The royal blue Kyanite is accompanied by Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and semi-precious gem stones. 2000+ stones were set into the crowns in 45 days.

Image
At this stage, the crown structure is almost finalized. This stage would be the final chance to add, remove or secure any structure pieces if needed. The crown structure was experimented on several head shapes to make sure it wouldn’t tilt or fall, as a result of which, two extra secure clips were added on the sides of the crowns.

Image
Close inspection were made to ensure the fine quality of the crown

Image
Rodium Polish and Gold Plating, both were applied. Gold plating was done on the entire crown except the crown frames while a few other parts of the crown were Rodium polished for color balancing.

Image
The result, yellow parts reflected our vivid culture and the icy white frames reflected our chilling Himalayas.

Beautiful! I hope this helps attract the best Nepali ladies to join the national contest every year. This will help boost the pageant's prestige, considering the high-end titles that are at stake.

Miles better than the Binibining Pilipinas crowns which doesn't have meaning nor Philippine symbols ... Just some random crowns .

Napalese can take pride of the crowns because it's Nepal made .

The old Binibining Pilipinas Universe crown (last used by Rachel Peters) is still the best, quite reminiscent of the old Miss Universe crown,

Also the bucket inspired crowns used during the Bb. Pilipinas 2004 are very iconic also.
