If you're going to outshine Jessie J, then you better bring your A-game.
And that's exactly what KZ Tandingan did, as she delivered in Friday's episode of the Chinese singing contest, "Singer 2018," an incredible rendition of "Rolling in the Deep."
The "X-Factor Philippines" winner put her own spin on the Adele tune by adding Tagalog rap verses in the middle.
It earned her the top spot for the show's fifth week, relegating Jessie J, who was seen applauding Tandingan afterwards, to her second consecutive second-place finish.
Both Tandingan and Jessie J will return to the show next week for another round of performances.
As if KZ penned the song and owned it ... remarkably one-of-a-kind stage performance. She held the audience (judges!) captive if not enthralled! Too, her humble beginnings did not betray. She was kind'a star-stricken by Jessie J's presence.
I've been watching too many Morissette Amon (and reaction videos) lately that I never noticed that KZ is doing her fair share making us Filipinos proud abroad.
You know what's impressive about her performance?
It's that KZ was able to perform doing more than one genre.
She started with that techno-new age vibe. Then the instruments started with that jazzy feel.
She continued with pop, sing the chorus in rock, and do some rap.
And the overall feel of the song is very upbeat. And you can even hear a little bit of reggae somewhere.
In short, she did TECHNO, JAZZ, POP, ROCK, ALTERNATIVE, REGGAE and DANCE, all in one song.

WALA AKONG MASABI KUNDI NAKANGANGA LANG!!!!....GALING!!!!
Indeed KZ is pure talent! one of a kind singer. Her performance was so great i think this is the best performance of her life so far. I know there's more to come, so watch out.
Even Jessie J was so proud of her, she may not reach the vocal range of Jessie J, but in terms of quality it is far close to her. I can see that these two ladies will fight head to head in the finals. Ive watched the whole show in Youtube, so at this time clearly JJ and KZ are the frontrunner ( talking about beauty pageant).
KZ promised that she will give different performance next week. Well, good luck to her and thank you for making us proud again as Filipino.
