Society plays an important role!!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Society is at times judgmental and myopic. However, there are some people who are trying to make this world a better place. I highly appreciate these people. The stories of these disabled beautiful women are truly inspiring.

I recently attended another gathering for PWDs. One of the issues discussed was 'pity.' A healthy exchange of opinions took place. The PWDs don't want 'pity.' They want empathy.

Disabled individuals are given the same opportunity and rights here in America. They have the same equal rights as normal individuals. Sometimes people judge them base on what they see, but then again, beauty might be somewhere within themselves that people tend to ignore, or perhaps forgotten that these disabled people are humans, too. They hurt, feel and think. Remember, it's not their fault to be one. There are reasons and purpose on why these kind of individuals exist in this cruel world.

It would be good to find out who this woman is and what her advocacies are at present. Do you have any idea what year she joined?

I grew up living with my sister, who is beautiful, but also disabled. My mom gave birth when she was still 6 months pregnant, and my sister was born with cerebral palsy. She couldn't walk until she was 4, then she got some surgeries and she could walk a little, but now at the age of 30 she is going back to her wheel chair. Her life haven't been easy, but everyday i try to do something to make it better for her

That's very kind of you, Charlie. I can now see the warm and tender side of you. For people with cerebral palsy, it's the nagging pain and involuntary movements that they encounter day by day. For people like you who who would try to do anything to make her feel better, it's the sacrifice and the patience that cannot be measured by money.

You can also add this two beautiful ladies. They made history in Miss International because it was the first time in major beauty pageant that there were two deaf and mute contestants.

Vanessa Peretti - Miss Venezuela International 2007

Sophie Vouzelaud - Miss France International 2007

There are also beauty pageants for deaf like Miss Deaf International and Miss Deaf World.

Thank you for this. Yes, 2007 was an exciting year for Miss International with the inclusion of these girls.

The organizers of the Miss Deaf pageants should be commended! :=p
