The Miss Universe Organization is surrounded by controversies lately with the Transgender being allowed to compete and the dethronement of Miss Dominican Republic after it was found that she was married. The issue of " What is the essence of a being Woman? " a question repeatedly asked in a beauty pageant, is now a topic of debate. Frequently, the response we hear to the question above is the ability of female gender to bear and to give birth to a child. In the world of beauty pageant there were few ladies who were blessed to conceived while they're wearing their stiletto competing or their tiaras fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Below are the queens who were Pregnant in Heels.

Unnur Steinsson
In 1983, a lovely brunette Unnur Steinsson was crowned Ungfrú Ísland and earned the right to represent Iceland in the two biggest beauty pageant. In July she flew to St. Louis, Missouri in the USA for the Miss Universe, unfortunately she failed in her attempt to give her countries its first Miss Universe. Six months later in the United Kingdom for the Miss World, luck was on her side when she advance further in the competition and finished in the 5th spot . While she was gliding in the stage of Royal Albert Hall in London, she was on the end of third trimester of her pregnancy. Although Unnur did not win Miss World, the baby she was carrying on her womb, which she shares the same name, 22 years later would become Iceland 3rd Miss World.Watch Unnur as she competes in Swimsuit and Evening Gown in Miss World 1983

Brenda Robles
When Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres transfered the crown of Miss Puert Rico to Brenda Robles, the pressure was on for the new queen. Brenda had to do what was then impossible to be done a back-to-back win in Miss Universe. Unfortunately, the Boricuan beauty queen did not succeed to enter the top 10 in Manila. During Brenda's reign, she got pregnant and was not allowed to crown her successor Desiree Lowry.

Denyse Floreano
On September 2, 1994 a towering Denyse Floreano representing Costa Oriental won the title of Miss Venezuela. Her victory earned her a ticket to Windhoek, Namibia for the 44th annual Miss Universe. The Venezuelan beauty queen proved that the South American country once again is a Powerhouse in Beauty Contest, as she continued 14 consecutive years ( will continue for another 8 years ) placement of her country. Denyse however did not achieve what her two predecessors did, making in the top 3.
In an interview Miss Philippines Joanne Santos, who is closed to Denyse revealed that during the contest the Venezuelan was on her 5 months ( or 6 months ) of pregnancy. Two months after Denyse relinquished her crown to Alicia Machado, she gave birth to her son.

Tisha Elaine Heflin
In 1999, the twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago served as the host country for Miss Universe. The competition was under spotlight when the 5'11" Tisha Heflin a beauty from the Pacific Island of Guam fell ill and found pregnant had to pull out of the race. Her pregnancy paved way to the final 3 question " If Miss Universe would have become pregnant during her reign, should she be allowed to continue as Miss Universe? "

Vanessa Torres
Twelve years later in 2011, another Beauty Queen from Guam was in the same shoe as Tisha. Vanessa Torres the reigning Miss Guam Universe had to vacate her throne when she broke the rule of not getting pregnant during her reign. Her runner up Lalaine Mercado took over her place.

Sara Lawrence
In 2006, Sara Lawrence a pre-med student won the title Miss Jamaica World, her triumph would continue in Poland when she was named Continental Queen for Carribean in Miss World. During her reign, the Jamaican beauty revealed that she was expecting and had no choice but to resign. Then 22 year-old Lawrence said she would relinquish her position "having taken a deeply personal decision to face up to my responsibilities as one who expects to become a mother later this year." However, she received an unwavering support from the Jamaican public and Julia Morley the head of Miss World backed up and allowed her to finish the full duration of her reign. When it time for her to pass the crown to the new queen, Yendi Phillips ( who happens to be pregnant now ) she did not attend the ceremony for she was welcoming her bundle of joy to this world.

Jewel Selver
Jewel Selver looks may not that of a typical beauty queen. The diminutive Miss Turks & Caicos 2009 compensates her shortcomings with her bubbly and confident runway walk during the Preliminary of Miss Universe in Bahamas. A few days before the pageant night she withdrew from the competition citing health reason. Few months later, Jewel made public of her having bun in the oven.

Nicola Mimnagh
Miss Scotland 2010 Nicola Mimnagh was selected as Miss United Kingdom International 2011 after getting the highest placement in Miss World 2010 among the contestant from UK. However the hot beauty queen had to withdraw from competing in Miss International after she found out that she was pregnant. Her pregnancy was the reason why the United Kingdom did not participate in Miss International.

I find the story of the 2 Iceland misses to be fascinating. I wonder if Julia Morley new of that anecdote back in 2005? Could that have encouraged her to crown Unnur B.V. in 2005?

I absolutely love this thread. I did know not about a few of these amazing women, as I did not get back into pagentry until 2010, but congrats to them and their beautiful families.

A few months ago Rani announced that she was expecting via Facebook. She is, reportedly, due next month with a baby girl. As far as I know, she was not forced to give up her crown, and will take part in festivities for Miss Maine USA.

l am ALWAYS rooting for my latinas....so in 2005 l was very pissed off when Unnur took the title.....Dafne Molina was way better than her by far. But anyways hehehehehe........I WISH MY MOM WAS A BEAUTY QUEEN lol
