NGOC CHAU is MISS UNIVERSE VIETNAM 2022

The search for Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 has officially started. Khanh Van, Miss Universe Vietnam 2020, will crown her successor at the end of the event. Miss Universe Vietnam is a biannual contest. The winner will compete in Miss Universe 2022. The first runner up will compete in Miss Universe 2023.

Regional castings: Ho Chi Minh City (March 19 and 20), Ha Noi Capital (March 24 and 25). Top 70 will be chosen.

Reality show: Ho Chi Minh City (April 1 to 28). Top 40 will be chosen.

Prelims: Ho Chi Minh City (June 21). Top 40 will compete in Swimsuit, Evening Gown and closed door interviews with the judges.

Finals: Ho Chi Minh City (June 25). In the final show, top 15 and 1 fanvote are announced. The top 16 will compete on stage and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 will be crowned at the end of the show.

The Vietnamese fans have been trying to tell Miss Universe Vietnam Org to focus on the girls' communication and English skills. It seems they are listening. Mr Bao Hoang, Miss Universe Vietnam's national director revealed in the press conference that communication skills will play a big part in choosing top 40 for the prelims and top 15 for the finals.

Vo Hoang Yen (Miss Universe Vietnam 2009), one of the official preliminary judges of Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 has revealed her judging criteria as follows:

1. Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 must be confident, modern and universally beautiful.
2. Have a progressive mindset, be willing to take constructive criticism and be responsible for her words and actions.
3. Be ready to take up space and aware of the current social and worldwide issues.
4. Must have what it takes to represent the Miss Universe brand internationally, communicate well in English (This is the most important factor and a deal breaker for Vo Hoang Yen to score a girl high or low)
5. Must be passionate and ready to fight.

Ngoc Chau: prolly the most hyped girl? She is safe, but boring and lack impact. She however is the most serious contestant tho, she's putting in the work and I respect that. The other girls seem to be hanging out having fun while sis here is at the gym and English classes everyday.
Hoang Phuong: i thought she isn't confirmed? i don't think she's pretty enough but i still love her and rooting for her for having success outside of pageants too.
Thao Nhi Le: most ready English wise, not sure how learned she is regarding social political issues and her ideologies so can't judge more. she's pretty but hasn't found THE queen layout, she reminds me of Chalita sometimes. she's successful as a businesswoman so that is a huge plus. no idea how her performance skill is. i think she is the one to watch out for.
Huong Ly: also hasn't heard about her confirmation. i love her. her look is 100% ready, performance skill 100% ready. she's street smart, but i doubt she can speak on the Miss Universe caliber. top 3 is highest for her, she'd never get the crown.
Le Nam, Nam Em: they're pretty yeah there's no way they're gonna get the crown. seriously lacking in speaking.

Ngoc Chau: by far the most eager girl for the Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 crown. She has been preparing seriously. She has experience competing in Miss Supra and former Miss Supra girls seem to have luck in Miss Universe. Her face is universally beautiful. She just needs to work on that X factor and she will be a HIT. That's why she was the first girl that came to my mind when I created this coverage thread.

Hoang Phuong: she has said on her instagram that she still wants it so badly. I follow her and she has been very active with Miss Universe Vietnam Org activities. That's why i confidently put her down as a confirmed returner. She gives me Kim Layne vibe which is why she is always a strong contender in my list.

Thao Nhi Le: a "certified rick kid" which could either help or hurt her in the judges' eyes. Very successful and classy girl. She can express herself well in English which is a huge advantage in this edition of Miss Universe Vietnam. Her only downfall is her height. She is only 168cm but i don't think height matters in Miss Universe anymore.

Huong Ly, Le Nam and Nam Em: i can see them in top 10 but to represent Vietnam they still need to work extremely hard to improve themselves. Side notes, I want Huong Ly to go to the Thailand based pageant and Le Nam to go to Miss Earth. I think they fit these two pageants more than Miss Universe. Nam Em is currently focusing on her singing career. Top 8 at Miss Earth 2016 is already a success for Nam Em. She doesn't need to compete more.

Cam Dan: extremely beautiful face but lacks a lot of skills. She is too young (born in 2002). Watch out for her in the next few years if she is still interested in pageantry.

These are the girls that currently caught my attention. The rest could have some potentials in them but I need to see more. Hope to see girls who have H'hen's star quality, Kim Duyen's body and personality and Thuy Van's speaking skill show up at the regional castings.
