Wow, it's very interesting to see more countries competing in Miss Universe, especially Asian countries. I know Myanmar already competed in MU, about 50 years ago.

Invitation for Sponsorship to Miss Myanmar Selection Contest

Relating to the above mentioned matter, Miss Myanmar Contest is going to be field under the management of "HELLO MADAM MEDIA GROUP". Miss Myanmar Contest have been arranged to hold as grand occasion nation wide and the select "Miss Myanmar" have to be sent to the "Miss Universe Contest" of the United States of Ameria.
It has been more the (50) years Myanmar could not participate again at "Miss Universe Contest" after participating in 1959, 1960 and 1961. Currently, HELLO MADAM MEDIA GROUP has been granted by the Notification No.2(25)/200- Ya Tha/ Wa Ka Ra, dated on 2012, October 8th of the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to go to participate each and every year at "Miss Universe Contest" with organizing "Miss Myanmar Contest". In order to implement these activities, your repudiated business are invited to participate as sponsors of this national activity.

REALLY? To my surprise, I've not heard any news relating with this at all. Though it have been rumored that Stars and Model agency would like to take a franchise. I'll keep updating if i ever found some news.

Myint Myint May (far left) as Miss BURMA at the 1960 Miss Universe pageant in Miami, Florida. With her are other contestants and then reigning Miss Universe from Japan, Akiko Kojima

Three ladies already represented Cambodia in Miss Universe history. During that time the country was still called BURMA.

Than Than Aye - the first Cambodian to join Miss Universe in 1959

Myint Myint May - the second Cambodian to join Miss Universe in 1960. She won the award Miss Congeniality but failed to advance in the semi-finals.

Myint Myint Khin - the third and last (till 2012) representative from Cambodia to participate in Miss Universe in 1961.

The fourth Cambodian to participate in Miss Universe will be chosen in 2013.
